Softball ties Lynchburg-Clay in Final Scrimmage

Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons And Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs Tie By GameChanger Media Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons and Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs tied 5-5 on Friday at Clinton-Massie High School. An error put Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs on the board in the top of the first. Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Aubrey Roberts singled, scoring one run, Sophia Michael singled, scoring two runs, and Kalli Jodrey induced Sadie Kuipers to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons made the score 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning when Shae Simmons singled, scoring one run, and Madi Brinck hit a solo home run to left field. Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a single by Annie Baker (An.), and a ground out by Brinck. Jodrey started the game for Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons. The hurler gave up eight hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Noel Barnhill stepped in the circle first for Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Brinck, Baker (An.), Kylie Chavez, Simmons, Alyssa Sandlin, Alexis Dingman, and Leia Kairn each collected one hit for Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons. Brinck led Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Reese Ruble and Jazmine Brown each collected two hits for Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs. Roberts, Michael, and Kuipers each drove in one run for Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs. Roberts stole two bases. Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs stole four bases in the game. Lynchburg-Clay Varsity Lady Mustangs were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
