Ava Crombie’s Clutch Hitting Propels Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons To Victory Over Fairfield (Leesburg) By GameChanger Media Ava Crombie drove in six runs on four hits to lead Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons past Fairfield (Leesburg) 17-4 on Saturday at Fairfield Local Schools. Crombie hit a home run to left field in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the fifth scoring two, and doubled in the first scoring one. Crombie struck out 12 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also surrendered six hits and four runs over six innings while walking none. Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kalli Jodrey doubled down the right field line, Crombie doubled to right field, Haley Hinkle doubled to right field, Kylie Chavez doubled to center field, and Abbie Baker (Ab.) singled to center field, each scoring one run. Kelsie Crowder hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second for the Fairfield (Leesburg). A single by Hinkle extended the Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons lead to 6-1 in the top of the third inning. Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits. Jodrey singled, scoring two runs, and Crombie homered to left field, scoring two runs. Rilee Quickle took the loss for Fairfield (Leesburg). The pitcher went six innings, giving up 17 runs (13 earned) on 22 hits, striking out four and walking none. Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons collected 22 hits in the game. Alyssa Sandlin, Crombie, and Jodrey each collected four hits for Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons. Izzy Penewit, Chavez, Alexis Dingman, and Hinkle each collected multiple hits for Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons. Jodrey stole two bases. Ally Maynard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Fairfield (Leesburg) with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Maynard, Quickle, Crowder, Alyssa Bales, Jorgia Smith, and Avery Morrow each collected one hit for Fairfield (Leesburg). Fairfield (Leesburg) turned one double play in the game.
