The Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons showed resilience and firepower on Wednesday night, erasing an early deficit to defeat the Wilmington Varsity Hurricanes 13-4 in dominant fashion. After falling behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning, the Falcons wasted no time responding. Wilmington struck first with timely hits from Beau Griffith and Jace Doyle, each driving in two runs. But Clinton-Massie quickly flipped the momentum—and never looked back. The Falcons surged ahead in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 5-4 lead behind clutch at-bats. Andrew Smith delivered a two-RBI single to ignite the rally, while Brett Gray added a sacrifice fly and Ryan Anderson drew a bases-loaded walk to cap off the inning. From there, Clinton-Massie continued to apply pressure both at the plate and on the basepaths. Leading the offensive explosion was Zach Carter, who turned in a perfect night at the plate. Carter went 4-for-4, including a double and three singles, consistently setting the tone for the Falcons’ attack. Clinton-Massie tallied 13 hits on the night, with Gray driving in a team-high four RBIs from the middle of the lineup. Peyton Warren and Andrew Smith each added multiple hits, contributing to the balanced offensive effort. The Falcons also showcased aggressive baserunning, swiping nine bases in the contest. Colton Fite, Warren, and Smith each recorded multiple stolen bases, keeping constant pressure on Wilmington’s defense. Plate discipline was another key factor, as Clinton-Massie drew eight walks, with Fite, Anderson, and Corey Frisch each earning two. On the mound, Hayden Meeker earned the win, going four innings while allowing five hits and four runs (three earned), striking out five and walking one. After Meeker’s outing, Logan Jenks and Noah Gorman came on in relief and shut the door, holding Wilmington scoreless the rest of the way. Defensively, Clinton-Massie also contributed with a double play, helping maintain control throughout the game. For Wilmington, Jace Doyle and Brady Tolliver each collected two hits, while Doyle and Griffith accounted for all four RBIs. The Hurricanes also turned a double play defensively. With the win, Clinton-Massie builds momentum heading into their next matchup. The Falcons will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to face Washington Courthouse. Final Score: Clinton-Massie 13, Wilmington 4
