Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons wasted no time setting the tone Thursday night, erupting for eight runs in the opening inning and never looking back in a commanding 14-6 victory over Washington Varsity Blue Lions. Leading the offensive charge was Andrew Smith, who delivered a standout performance at the plate. Smith went 3-for-5 on the day, recording a double and two singles while driving in key runs to fuel the Falcons’ early momentum. His presence at the plate helped spark an explosive first inning that ultimately proved too much for Washington to overcome. The Falcons’ big first inning featured contributions up and down the lineup. Brett Gray jumpstarted the scoring with a two-run triple, followed by RBI singles from Corey Frisch and Easton Vinup. Noah Gorman added a two-run single, and Smith capped the inning with a two-run double, giving Clinton-Massie a commanding lead early. On the mound, Will Creech earned the win with a solid outing. The right-hander worked four innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five and issuing no walks. Ryan Anderson and Noah Gorman provided relief support to help secure the victory. Clinton-Massie’s offense remained consistent throughout the game, finishing with 15 total hits. Frisch and Smith each tallied three hits, while Jackson Doyle added two hits in limited at-bats. Washington showed fight at the plate, collecting nine hits of their own. Sam Lotz led the Blue Lions with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Josiah Wynne drove in three runs. Cooper Robertson and Bryson Heath also contributed multiple hits, and Washington turned two double plays defensively. Despite the effort, Washington could not recover from the early deficit created by the Falcons’ explosive start. Clinton-Massie now turns its focus to the next matchup, traveling to Hillsboro on Friday as they look to keep the momentum rolling.
