Clinton-Massie Varsity Softball put together a dominant performance on Tuesday, cruising to an 18-2 victory over East Clinton behind a huge day at the plate from Izzy Penewit. Penewit powered the Falcons’ offense, driving in six runs on three hits. She came through in multiple key moments, delivering an RBI single in the second inning before erupting in the fourth with a two-run single and a three-run double to cap her standout performance. Clinton-Massie wasted no time taking control of the game, striking first in the opening inning when Kalli Jodrey singled to bring home two runs. The Falcons continued to build momentum in the second, adding four more runs behind RBI singles from Penewit, Ava Crombie, and Kylie Chavez. The lead grew again in the third inning, as Clinton-Massie capitalized on a pair of East Clinton errors to plate two more runs. But it was the fourth inning that put the game out of reach. The Falcons exploded for 10 runs in the frame, stringing together timely hits and disciplined at-bats. Penewit drove in two runs with a single before later adding a three-run double. Jodrey added a two-run single, Abbie Baker drew a bases-loaded walk, and Tynnleigh McCallister delivered a two-run double as Clinton-Massie blew the game wide open. In the circle, Jodrey earned the win with a strong four-inning performance. She allowed just three hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one. Madi Brinck came on in relief and tossed a scoreless inning, striking out one without allowing a hit. The Falcons finished with 12 hits on the day, with McCallister, Crombie, and Jodrey each recording multiple hits. Crombie also showed patience at the plate, drawing two walks as part of a six-walk team effort. Clinton-Massie stayed aggressive on the bases as well, stealing five bags, including two from McCallister. Defensively, the Falcons were flawless, not committing a single error. Kylie Chavez led the way in the field with seven chances. East Clinton was led by Jayla Barnett, who collected two hits, while Barnett and Myia Spurlock each drove in a run. The Astros also turned a double play in the contest. Clinton-Massie will look to carry its momentum into Wednesday as the Falcons hit the road to take on Batavia.
