Ava Crombie’s Dominant Day Leads Clinton-Massie Past Clermont Northeastern

By Brian Carey | Apr 17, 2026 6:11 PM

Ava Crombie delivered a standout performance both at the plate and in the circle to lead the Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons to an 8-1 victory over Clermont Northeastern Varsity Rockets on Friday. Crombie powered the Falcons’ offense with four RBIs on two hits, highlighted by a two-run home run to left field in the third inning. She followed that up with a two-run single in the fourth, accounting for half of Clinton-Massie’s runs on the day. In addition to her offensive production, Crombie was dominant in the circle. The right-hander struck out 18 batters over a complete-game performance, allowing just two hits and one run while walking three. Clinton-Massie broke through in the bottom of the third inning. Kalli Jodrey sparked the rally with a double down the left field line, and Crombie followed with her two-run homer to give the Falcons an early advantage. Clermont Northeastern’s lone run came in the top of the fourth inning when Jenna Brown connected on a solo home run to left field. Brown also took the loss in the circle for the Rockets, pitching four innings and allowing eight runs—four earned—on 10 hits while striking out two and walking one. The Falcons’ offense stayed consistent throughout the game, finishing with 12 hits. Annie Baker (An.), Crombie, and Jodrey each recorded two hits to lead the way. Defensively, Clinton-Massie was flawless, not committing a single error. Izzy Penewit anchored the defense with a team-high 18 chances in the field. For Clermont Northeastern, Anabelle King and Brown each tallied a hit while hitting back-to-back in the lineup. Brown also led the team with one RBI, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate. The Rockets turned one double play in the contest. Clinton-Massie will look to build on the win as they return home Monday to take on New Richmond.
