CLARKSVILLE, OH — It was a game that had been circled for years—and on Friday night, Clinton-Massie finally got over the hump. In a back-and-forth battle that lived up to the hype, the Falcons pulled out a dramatic 10-9 win over Madeira at home, sealing the victory in a game that came down to the final moments. After trailing early, Clinton-Massie showed resilience all night. Madeira held a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and carried a 5-3 advantage into halftime. The Falcons responded in the third, evening the score at 6-6 and setting up a tense fourth quarter that had all the intensity of a playoff matchup. Clinton-Massie Head Coach Voisey couldn’t hide his excitement after the game. “Man, we finally beat a team that’s been on the list for three or four years, and it feels great,” he said. “Big game, comes down to the wire. These one-goal games are so thrilling, and I’m just so happy to be on the winning side. I’m happy for these kids—they’ve worked their tails off for years for moments like this.” The Falcons got contributions from across the roster in a true team effort. Corbin Cartner and Isaac Young each found the back of the net in the first quarter to keep Clinton-Massie within striking distance early. Tristan Trampler added a goal in the second quarter as the Falcons stayed within two at the half. The momentum shifted in the third quarter, as Cartner, Trampler, and Carson Long each scored to tie the game heading into the fourth. With everything on the line, Clinton-Massie delivered in the final frame. Cartner and Trampler continued their big nights, while Sam Danforth and Brody Webb added crucial goals to help secure the 10-9 victory. But one of the biggest stories of the night came in goal. Colton Hodges, who had just one day of practice before stepping into the role, delivered a standout performance against one of the toughest opponents on the schedule. “Shoutout to Colton Hodges,” Coach Voisey said. “He had one day of practice before coming in here to play goalie against one of the biggest teams we face—and he pulled it off. One heck of a game for a kid that just stepped up in a moment this big.” The win marks a significant milestone for the Falcons, not only because of the opponent, but because of what it represents—a program continuing to grow, compete, and deliver in big moments. In Falcon Country, this one will be remembered for a while.
