The Clinton-Massie track and field program turned in an impressive all-around performance Thursday night at the Brett Wightman Invitational hosted by East Clinton, with both the boys and girls teams capturing second-place finishes and bringing home runner-up trophies. Boys Team Highlights The Falcons boys squad showcased depth and dominance across multiple events, highlighted by several first-place finishes and strong podium performances. Leading the way was Zander Mills, who claimed the 110-meter hurdles title while also adding a second-place finish in the high jump and a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Caleb Werling continued his standout season with victories in the 1600-meter run and a runner-up finish in the 800-meter run. Distance standout James Toller also had a big night, winning the 3200-meter run and placing third in the 1600-meter run. The Falcons’ 4x800-meter relay team of Toller, Ben McHale, Joey Sweet, and Werling secured another first-place finish, showcasing the team’s strength in distance events. Additional top-three finishes came from Cayden Patton, who placed third in the 3200-meter run, and Alex Sherman, who earned third in the shot put. Girls Team Highlights The Clinton-Massie girls team matched the boys’ success, finishing just one point shy of first place in a tightly contested meet. The Falcons dominated several field and sprint events, led by Olivia Carpenter, who captured first place in the 200-meter dash and added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash along with a third-place finish in the long jump. In the field events, Julia Reardon (high jump), Rose Hall (long jump), and Azlynn Green (shot put) each earned first-place finishes, highlighting the team’s strength across multiple disciplines. The Falcons also excelled in relays, with second-place finishes in the 4x800, 4x200, and 4x100-meter relays. The 4x800 team included Jillian Arledge, Haley Zeller, Lillian Zimmerman, and Allie Roberts, while the 4x200 team (Bia Burton, Roberts, Sarah Russell, Reardon) and 4x100 team (Hall, Burton, Ava Davis, Carpenter) delivered strong performances. Additional standout efforts included runner-up finishes by Davis in the 300-meter hurdles and Paige Oberweiser in the discus. Third-place finishes came from Reardon in the 400-meter dash, the 4x400 relay team (Davis, Macy Morgan, Roberts, Reardon), and Kailey Wax in the shot put. Looking Ahead Both teams demonstrated depth, resilience, and strong team chemistry throughout the meet. The girls’ near victory—finishing just one point out of first—underscored the competitiveness and determination of the Falcons. Clinton-Massie will look to build on this momentum as both teams return to action Friday night at Franklin.
