Clinton-Massie Varsity Baseball put together a complete performance Monday night, powered by a flawless day at the plate from Jackson Doyle and a dominant outing on the mound from Andrew Smith, to defeat Western Brown 11-1. Doyle was nearly impossible to retire, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, and a single. His consistency at the plate helped set the tone early and fueled a Falcon offense that erupted late. Clinton-Massie struck first in the opening inning when Doyle delivered a single to get on the board. Western Brown answered in the third, using a sacrifice bunt from Montana Wells to even the score at 1-1. The Falcons quickly regained control in the fourth inning, as Aiden Clark drove in a run on a groundout to give Clinton-Massie a 2-1 edge—a lead they would never relinquish. The game broke wide open in the sixth inning when the Falcons exploded for seven runs. Brett Gray sparked the rally with a two-run double, while Noah Gorman added pressure on a fielder’s choice that plated another run. Smith helped his own cause with an RBI single, Peyton Warren followed with a two-run single, and Doyle capped the inning with an RBI double to extend the lead. On the mound, Smith was in command from start to finish. The right-hander tossed a complete game, allowing just two hits and one run over seven innings while striking out four and walking one. His efficiency kept Western Brown off balance all night. Clinton-Massie finished with 13 hits in the win. Smith also led the team with three RBIs at the plate, going 2-for-5. Gray added a pair of hits, while Colton Fite created havoc on the bases with three stolen bases. As a team, the Falcons swiped four bags, showcasing their aggressive approach. For Western Brown, Wells and Devin Rayner each recorded a hit, with Wells driving in the Broncos’ lone run. Clinton-Massie will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup against Western Brown on Wednesday.
