Behind a dominant performance on the mound from Will Creech, Clinton-Massie Varsity Falcons rolled to a 9-0 victory over Waynesville Varsity Spartans on Monday. Creech was in complete control from the start, firing a complete game shutout while keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard all night long. The Falcons’ defense backed him up throughout the contest, playing error-free baseball and turning a key double play. Clinton-Massie got on the board in the top of the second inning when Aiden Clark ripped a double to score the game’s first run. The Falcons steadily added to their lead before breaking the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Clinton-Massie capitalized on several opportunities during the frame, including a dropped third strike that brought home a run. Jackson Doyle added a sacrifice fly RBI, Corey Frisch delivered an RBI single, and Noah Gorman drove in two more runs with a sacrifice fly. Offensively, Clinton-Massie totaled nine hits on the evening. Doyle drove in a team-high three runs from the cleanup spot, while Clark paced the Falcons with a three-hit performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Frisch also turned in a strong night offensively with two hits in four at-bats. Defensively, Frisch led the Falcons with six chances in the field as Clinton-Massie played a clean game without committing an error. Hunter Fullenkamp took the loss for Waynesville after pitching six innings, allowing six runs — only one earned — on six hits while striking out two and walking one. Gregory Marlow led the Spartans offensively, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Clinton-Massie will return to action Thursday against Fairborn Varsity Skyhawks.
